Welsh Section B

Slightly taller than Section A, but still under 14.2 hands, these ponies are versatile mounts for older children and small adults. They are known for their refined looks and good movement.

The Section B has been showing a serious decline in numbers over the past decade, from a peak of over 1000 foals annually, to just 409 in 2023. The Welsh Section ‘B’ has been a popular breed around the world but has also been declining in numbers globally. It is therefore on the RBST watch list as ‘At Risk’.
